Tayside's Independent Hillwalking Club
Membership Details
Unlike other clubs you do not have to be proposed or seconded to join taysidetrekkers. Membership costs £20.00 per person/£35.00 per couple at the same address until the AGM in September 2008. This includes Club Membership to The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS).
Membership of the MCofS provides a number of benefits to club members including civil liability insurance and a subscription to ‘The Scottish Mountaineer’ magazine.
Meetings are held at The Bank Bar, 7/9 Union Street, Dundee on the first Monday of each month at 7.30pm.
You do not need to be a member to attend a walk, all you need to do is contact the Walk Leader and ask to put your name down for the walk you want to attend. It will help if you could briefly outline your level of experience. This costs £5.00 per walk.
Please contact us at taysidetrekkers@hotmail.co.uk for further details, or click here to download the Membership Form.
taysidetrekkers is a dog friendly club, however, we do expect that dog's are well behaved and that the owners are familiar with the relationship between dog's and the countryside.
Important Safety Information
All activities have inherent hazards
associated with them, so it is important that each member appreciates that they
have a responsibility to take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the
potential for an accident to arise. As by definition we are a Walking Group, we
therefore walk as a group. The Leader’s first responsibility is to the
aforementioned Group, and as such, members or visitors should not leave a walk
or walk away from the Group without prior the Leader's prior knowledge. This is not only selfish, but could lead to
potential danger, and subsequently members/visitors could be asked not to return
to Group activities.
For your safety we have produced a MINIMUM Kit list for both Summer and Winter Walking, and as such expect that ALL participants adhere to these. Please consider wearing several layers of clothing and choose garments which are easy to move in. Dress according to the season - please note that DENIM clothes are not suitable - and a ‘wicking’ layer next to the skin is advisable. Good boots are essential for comfort, protection and safety.
Extra Summer Equipment should contain the following -

* Rucksack liner/plastic
bags for keeping items dry
